A little of history
The Hotel - Dieu, is a one
of the city hospitals of Paris. In fact it is the oldest in
the city.
It was founded by Saint Landry
in 651 on the same site as it now stands on the Ile de la Cité.
Although it has been destroyed several times by fires. The architecture
of the present building dates from 1877.
As a result of its central location
the hospital has always been closely associated with the tragic
as well as the happy events of the capital.
It claims to fame comes from supporting
charity and from the exceptional quality of the doctors and
surgeons who cared for the patients, while also teaching and
researching in their fields of expertise. Bichat, Dupuytren,
Desault, Recamier, Cholmen, Dieulafoy and Trousseau are among
the many distinguished names.
The Hotel - Dieu acquired a reputation
for excellence in many fields and especially in Ophthalmology,
Dietary and Nutrition studies and Oncology.
